Sex Therapy
What is Psychosexual Therapy?
Psychosexual
therapy is the new name for Sex Therapy. The change in name shows
recognition of the part our minds play in sexual desire.
Working
with qualified sex therapists gives you and your partner the opportunity to talk
openly and honestly about any sexual problems and insecurities. But, as with
relationship counselling, you have a choice to come with your partner or on
your own.
Sex
therapy can help with problems such as:
- erectile
dysfunction
- premature ejaculation
- lack of
sexual desire
- penetration difficulties on
intercourse
- vaginismus
- anorgasmia
- pain on intercourse (dyspareunia)
- phobias resulting from early
physical or sexual abuse
- sexual aversions
- sex
addiction
Your
therapist will take a psychosexual history and might set specific tasks and
exercises that you will complete at home.
