Purves is a radio presenter, journalist and author. She is now a
regular columnist for The Times and has presented BBC Radio 4's Midweek
for many years. Following the tragic death of her son in 2006 she
published the book ‘The Silence at the Song's End' by Nicholas Heiney
as a way to preserve the legacy of his creative work and to share this
with a wider audience.
